J. Hall Homes In The Press:

DISTINCTIVE CUSTOM HOME BUILDER SEES FUTURE IN GREEN PRACTICES
American Builders Quarterly

J. Hall Homes, Inc. was sought out by American Builders Quarterly (a reputable builder's publication) to write this most recent story highlighting Jeff's perspective on building green.

Thanks to builders like J. Hall Homes, a growing number of regional clients are realizing the cost benefits of building greenly.  Hall chooses the green blueprints of Energy Star and EarthCraft, a program incepted in Atlanta in 1999, the same birth year of J. Hall Homes.

A Beige House That’s Green Throughout
The Free Lance-Star

This article featured one of J. Hall Homes' green homes, which was built using the Am-Cor™ system and geothermal heating and cooling.  The home certified Energy Star and Tier 2 Earthcraft House.

Excerpt: On a building site along Marlborough Point Road in eastern Stafford County, builder Jeff Hall of J. Hall Homes is...building a steel-frame house for clients seeking a home that is safe, efficient and technologically advanced.  Such a house could be virtually fireproof, termite- and vermin-proof, stormproof, mold-resistant and highly energy efficient.  At the heart of this new house will be a geothermal heating and cooling system with an air exchanger that lets the house “breathe” as it conditions and regulates the humidity of incoming air.  The system provides hot water at no extra charge.

The house was designed by Warrenton architect Angus MacDonald and uses Am-Cor’s Unified Steel and Cement System.  Hall is following the EarthCraft process, which covers all aspects of site planning, construction, and utility systems.  To achieve EarthCraft certification, homes must pass tests for energy efficiency, air infiltration and duct leakage established by Energy Star and the Home Energy Rating System (HERS).  Dukes says the standard HERS index for a new house built to code today is 100 or less.  An index of 80 meets EarthCraft standards.  His preliminary determination is that the Marlborough Point house could hit an index of 60, which is remarkable.

Home Sweet Homes
Area builders' best run gamut in cost, features
The Free Lance-Star

This comparative review emerged as a result of FABA's 2005 Parade of Homes. J. Hall Homes, Inc. was awarded Best in Show in the $1 million plus category for their 'LeMay' model.

Excerpt: Some people have been so blown away by the most expensive estate featured in this year's Fredericksburg Area Parade of Homes. "Yeah, I knew this was coming" 26 year old Chris Reed exclaimed as he entered the media room of the 8,000 square foot home. The room resembles a mini-movie theater, with 12 leather recliners on stadium-seating tiers facing a 102-inch plasma television. Electronically controlled stage curtains hide the TV when not in use. "Hundreds ventured inside The LeMay over the weekend for a glimpse of how a millionaire lives. Jackie Winn, a hostess for J. Hall Homes, said many of them drove by the mansion while it was being built.  All essentially told her the same thing: "I've been watching and I've been waiting."

Seeking success in the details
Youthful builder puts his focus on features, not square footage
The Free Lance-Star

Excerpt: It's difficult to consider anyone "seasoned" at what they do at the age of 31.  But that's what home builder Jeff Hall is. When he started his own construction company here in 1999, he'd already spent six years working for someone else. Some special recognition came this summer for The Suffield, a model home he built in Somerset Farm in Orange County and entered in the Fredericksburg Area Home Builders annual Showcase of Excellence. For the fourth year in a row, J. Hall Homes claimed both the Realtors' Choice and People's Choice awards, a Showcase record.  "I give a lot of attention to detail, to the flow and to the trim work," he said.  "I also think curb appeal is really important," which is why a special landscaping package is included with all of his homes.  The model's wraparound porch accentuates the exterior, which is covered with a blend of innovative concrete stonework and beaded siding.  "A house has to be pleasing to the eye," he said or a potential buyer won't stick around to discover features that Hall says help homes such as his stand apart. "I'm not a square-footage builder," said Hall.  "There are builders out there who will give you a lot of square footage for your money-and that's fine-but that's not me."  Hall said he'd rather focus on quality construction and features.

Builder crafts award-winning creations
Potomac News, Home Focus Edition

The article was inspired by a J. Hall Homes, Inc. victory during the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association's 2002 Parade of Homes for 'The Cheswyck' model, $700,000-$750,000 category.

Excerpt: In all man does, in all man creates, he feels he must somehow separate the "best" from the "
better," and those from all others.  Those rare men - or their creations - earning the distinction of being "best" are often themselves considered something of an enigma. How did they do that?  How did they create something so much better than all the others?  While that question haunts many a theorist, the answer to who is one of the "best" builders in the Fredericksburg area is actually quite simple.  Jeff Hall of J. Hall Homes. We didn't decide that.  No, the people decided - four years in a row.  From 1999-2002, J. Hall Homes was judged the "People's Choice" award winner in the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association Showcase of Excellence.  And in FABA's Parade of Homes, the firm has earned multiple awards as well.  Imagine only viewing the Mona Lisa over the Internet, or taking another's word for it that a chocolate torte was devilishly delicious.  No, some things must be seen to be appreciated.  Jeff Hall's beautiful creations are among those things.

Excerpt: Salem Fields features some of the region's most respected builders, including J. Hall Homes, a "People's Choice" recipient in the Fredericksburg Area Builders Association's Showcase of Excellence.  A striking two-story traditional home, The Lauren welcomes visitors first into her verandah, then into her fabulous two-story foyer with open oak stairwell.  Elegant archways compliment the formal rooms, while the flow continues with dual stairwells descending into the family room (a really popular item today with families that must entertain).  A gas fireplace and Palladium windows with custom plant shelf and trim complete this warm, inviting room.  The Lauren's kitchen gives plenty of space with island, butlers pantry, and seemingly "miles" of cabinet space.  Open and inviting, this room is guaranteed to become the center of life.  The master suite boasts his and hers closets and vaulted ceiling, and a to-die-for bath suite with separate shower complete with a custom seat, as well as a lovely garden tub with adjacent windows.
