Jeffrey J. Hall grew up in a suburban neighborhood in Westchester County, New York, approximately 50 miles north of New York City. He began his career in the building industry in 1993, when he graduated from Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island, with a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Technology, a Concentration in Construction Science, and a Minor in Business.  In 1999, Jeff started his own home building company, J. Hall Homes, Inc business in Fredericksburg, Va. Since starting J. Hall Homes, Jeff has built over 400 custom homes and has utilized modern construction techniques, materials, green building, and building systems to create a customized, high quality, and energy efficient home. While building homes is Jeff’s passion, his priority is being an excellent husband and father to his family: Michelle, Annika, and Tanner.

Born and raised in a quiet town just west of Boston, Massachusetts, Michelle and Jeff met during their first year in college together at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI.  Although she transferred to Johnson & Wales University in nearby Providence to study Hotel and Restaurant Management, she and Jeff married just one year after graduating and Michelle adapted well to her new life in VA.  While Jeff was building his resume working for a national builder, Michelle did brief stints in food service management and recruiting.  When Jeff left his job to start JHH in 1999, Michelle knew he was serious about creating a future for his family and building his own homes.  Almost instantly it became clear that Jeff needed help and Michelle jumped on board!  When Michelle is not taking care of their two children or making Jeff’s lunch, she is in the office fulfilling many of the day to day administrative duties.

“I have worked with the J. Hall Homes Company since their inception.  It has been a great pleasure to work with a company that takes such a strong stance on energy conservation.  Many builders jump in, realize the amount of work and attention to detail required, then step out o the program due to time constraints or other reasons.  Jeff Hall is not that way.  He has embraced the ideas and has implemented them fully to his building practice.  The results are shown in the lower scoring numbers on the ratings of his houses, and to his customers by lower utility bills and overall comfort in their homes.

Being an insulation contractor in this ‘trying’ market is obviously a difficult task.  Most individuals look for our trade to get in and out of the project as quickly as possible.  Jeff’s team understands the importance of our trade and invites our opinions on every house allowing us to achieve homes that are energy efficient.  This type of communication goes a long way in the development process and the performance scores.  It is hard to build a home that reaches such low scores, but Jeff has embraced the challenge and has succeeded with proven results.

Jeff uses the knowledge of the Building Sciences and implements their findings whenever possible, thus proving his devotion and commitment to this program.  His company shares his name and that states it best.  We look forward to continuing our relationship with Jeff and his innovative ideas.”

“We believe that Jeff Hall and J. Hall Homes exemplifies the best in building contractors.  WE have kept track of his recent energy efficient projects and have recommended him to others.  We highly recommend him to you.”

“I wanted to stop and take the time both to commend and thank you for the direction you have taken in building a quality home – better put a “Home for Life”.  We at ARS have been partnered with you for multiple years and during these years you have always been insistent on quality, reliability and longevity.  This and more shows in all your homes.”

“Dear Jeff,  thank you so much for building our dream retirement home.  We have been married 39 years, and it has been our mutual dream to own a home on a lake.  We never imagined that we could own a lot in Fawn Lake, but God blessed us and here we are!  We can’t thank you enough for helping us realize our dream. We love the home and couldn’t be more pleased with it!”

Daniel and Lori

“In comparison to our previous home, constructed 15 miles away in 1999 our six month average electricity consumption is down 23%.  That home is 2800 sq ft compared to our J Hall home which has 6400 sq ft of conditioned space.”

Stephan and Wendy

“We would like to express our sincere appreciation in the premium quality ‘Energy Efficient’ home you built for us in 2011.  We absolutely Love our home.  We appreciate how you assisted us throughout every stage of the building process; including explaining and detailing many of the energy efficient and quality construction options available, many of which we ultimately selected for our home.  We are particularly grateful for your offering and explaining the benefits of Earth Craft certification which provided us assurance that the energy efficiency options we elected to purchase were properly implemented by program oversight and demonstrated testing.

Everyone on our project took exceptional care in the work they performed giving us the home to last a lifetime.  We particularly not your attention to detail, aggressive subcontractor management and enforcement of quality control measures.  Your efforts resulted in an Energy Star Qualified and Earth Craft Gold level certified home with a H.E.R.S. Index 45 rating.  J. Hall Homes built us a healthy, comfortable space to live and play with an emphasis on durability and efficiency, everything Earth Craft represents.  This home is quite simply the most comfortable house we have ever lived in.

Thank you J. Hall Homes for giving us a home we love to live in and are proud to show off.”
